MOSCOW, Oct 18 US Soccer joins the call the International Football Federation (FIFA) and Qatar to pay $440 million (£390 million) in compensation to the families of migrant workers who were injured during the construction of the 2022 World Cup facilities, reports the Times. In April, the organizers of the World Cup admitted violations of working conditions at three companies involved in the preparation for the tournament. In May, the human rights organization Amnesty International sent a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino demanding $440 million in compensation to migrant workers involved in the construction of the 2022 World Cup facilities for violating working conditions. These demands have been supported by several countries and the tournament's four major sponsors. Last week, FIFA Deputy Secretary General Alasdair Bell told the Council of Europe that compensation is «definitely something the organization is interested in.» The World Cup in Qatar will be held from 20 November to 18 December 2022.
