MOSCOW, Oct 24 Current World Figure Skating Champion Kaori Sakamoto from Japan won the first stage of the Grand Prix series, which was held in Norwood (Massachusetts, USA). Sakamoto received 145.89 points for her free skate and scored 217.61 points in total. Americans Isabeau Levito (206.66) and Amber Glenn (197.61) took second and third places. Sakamoto is 22 years old. She is also a two-time bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympics. The Council of the International Skating Union (ISU) on March 1, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian figure skaters, speed skaters and short track skaters from participating in international tournaments. In June, the ISU Congress approved this decision, it will remain in effect until further notice.
