Bach urged to publish data on Valieva's doping case

MOSCOW, Oct 27 International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach urged The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to publish the results of the investigation into the doping case of figure skater Kamila Valieva. Earlier, RUSADA stated that it did not intend to publish the date of the hearing, the decision or other details in the case of Valieva. It is known that the investigation has ended, the case should be considered by the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee (DAK). Valieva, who was 15 years old at the time of her positive doping test, is a protected person according to the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The WADA press service said that it would call on RUSADA to make public the relevant amount of information on the figure skater's case. «Already in Beijing, we made our position clear by applying to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) jointly with WADA after it became known about RUSADA's decision. We lost and the proceedings are now under WADA confidentiality rules.Although RUSADA's position is to remain silent until the final verdict is reached, WADA and the IOC can appeal the result. This is a legal side. But in terms of transparency, we join WADA and ask RUSADA to make public data so that everyone has more confidence in this procedure,» Bach quotes Marca. At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, Valieva, as part of the national team, became the winner of the team tournament. Immediately after that, it became known that the doping test of the figure skater on December 25, 2021 gave a positive result for trimetazidine. CAS allowed Valieva to participate in the individual tournament of the Games, where she took fourth place. The IOC has postponed the awards ceremony for the winners of the team tournament until the end of the investigation into Valieva's case.
