MOSCOW, Nov. 22 Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on Tuesday opened an exhibition of Russian artists «Oh, Havana! Transit…» in the Federation Council.
«The exhibition is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Havana and the anniversary of Russian-Cuban diplomatic relations,» Matvienko said.

She emphasized that she was especially glad that «we are opening it with a great friend of our country — the President of Cuba.»

Matvienko thanked those who took part in organizing the exhibition, noting that our artists, who presented works about Havana, were driven by love for Cuba. That is why they were able to convey the unique flavor of Havana, the mood of its streets, the craftsmen conveyed to us the warmth of the hearts of Cubans.
The senator said that the delegation of the Federation Council in 2019 was on a visit to Cuba, when the country celebrated the 500th anniversary of its capital. «We were convinced once again how close we are to Cuba — the spirit of the people, their desire for freedom and independence,» the politician said.
She believes that the exhibition has become an important humanitarian project that strengthens our centuries-old friendship with the Cuban people.
«The Federation Council will help strengthen our interaction in the field of culture, in general in the humanitarian field,» Matvienko said.
The exhibition, in particular, presents the works of Petr Osovsky, Viktor Ivanov, Ivan Sushchenko. A group of Russian artists have been working in Cuba since the 2000s.
