CHISINAU, Nov. 28 Opposition rally in front of the General Prosecutor's Office of Moldova ended on Monday with the performance of the national anthem, the demonstrators dispersed, but called on the prosecutors to complete the investigation into the opened correspondence of government officials, the correspondent reports.
On Monday, supporters and representatives of the opposition Shor party, as well as a group of communist deputies, held another protest action against the current government in Chisinau. They demanded the resignation of the acting. Attorney General Ion Munteanu, President of the Republic Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa.
The leader of the Shor party, Ilan Shor, who is out of the country, addressed the protesters via video link.
«We we saw that all power was seized by corrupt officials who should be in prison. Instead, they run our country,» Shor said.
Opposition representatives criticized the authorities' statements that the current protests are aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.
«Recently, we have been hearing how many enemies we have, external and internal. A saboteur is standing behind every corner, a spy is sitting under every bush and everyone wants evil to our small peaceful country. But aren't there too many enemies for such a small and peaceful country? And let's tell the truth once — Moldova has only one enemy today — its treacherous and criminal government! — Deputy from the Communist Party Konstantin said at the rally Old man.
The parliamentarian recalled the published correspondence between government officials, members of the ruling Action and Solidarity party and advisers to the head of the republic.
“We learned a lot from the correspondence about how this country is governed. It is secretly controlled, it is controlled by Telegram, it is not controlled by people, it is controlled by some dark officials. It is clear from their negotiations that they are usurpers and corrupt officials. They work the laws of the wolf pack, the laws of mafia mutual responsibility, the mafia does not give up its own!» — Starysh stressed.
The organizers of the protest action in Chisinau filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office demanding to open criminal cases against officials and members of the Moldovan government, whose correspondence was previously made public.
According to one of the leaders of the protest movement, Dinu Turcanu , the opposition expects that the Prosecutor General's Office will open the case, «to clarify the veracity of these correspondence.»
Turcanu noted that more than 40,000 people from all regions of the republic took part in today's event.
In Chisinau, since September 18, an indefinite protest action has been held against rising food prices, raising energy tariffs and political persecution of the opposition. Representatives of the Shor party and communist deputies who joined the protest movement gathered mass rallies every Sunday. The demonstrators repeatedly tried to get to the main square of the city — the Great National Assembly, but their actions were hindered by the police, who severely pushed the activists back. In mid-October, special forces broke up a peaceful demonstration and dismantled an opposition tent city.
Protesters accuse the authorities of failing to cope with the crisis, pointing to a 20-year-high inflation, which in September was 33.97% on an annualized basis. The country's leadership is criticized for its unwillingness to negotiate better gas prices with Russia, as well as for political pressure on opposition representatives.
