MOSCOW, Dec 3 Ukrainian hospitals will only perform emergency surgeries in the event of a blackout, in order not to load the energy system, said the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Maria Karchevich.
«From our side, recommendations were given that if there is a long power outage, then planned hospitalizations and planned operations will be suspended in order not to overload the institutions. Only urgent (urgent, emergency — ed.) actions, operations will be accepted «, — said Karchevich on the air of the unified Ukrainian telethon, adding that in this case, part of the premises in hospitals would have to be mothballed.
Karchevich noted that the country's medical institutions are conventionally divided into two levels: those that can work in conditions of a complete lack of electricity and those that which can also withstand the lack of water supply and heating. Institutions of both levels are provided with generators and Stralink satellite communication stations.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported on November 23 that due to Russian strikes, all nuclear power plants and most thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants were temporarily de-energized, and the vast majority of electricity consumers were left without electricity. The next day, power supply to critical infrastructure facilities was restored.
The Russian Armed Forces began to attack Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, which, according to the Russian authorities, is behind the Ukrainian special services. The strikes are carried out on energy, defense industry, military command and communications facilities. After the strikes on November 15, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that almost half of the country's energy system had already been put out of action.
