«Today we are satisfied with the state of settlements in Russian rubles,» he said, answering journalists' questions on the sidelines of the EAEU summit in Bishkek. The words of the president are quoted by the Belarusian agency Belta.
He noted that the decision to abandon the use of the dollar in settlements between Belarus and Russia was prompted by circumstances and it was a forced step, but there were no problems in this regard. «When we were forced, I said:» Well, nothing, we satisfied with the Russian ruble,» Lukashenka stated.
The Belarusian leader drew attention to the fact that Belarus itself initiated the transition to the Russian ruble in payments for energy resources. «For a long time, if you remember, we suggested to Russia: «Let's trade for the Russian ruble» — «No, let's trade for the dollar» (they answered from the Russian side — ed.). And we had to earn this dollar in no one knows where and then pay for oil, gas,» Lukashenka reminded.
