VIENNA, Dec 14 Words by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed that the West was irresponsibly preparing Ukraine for a conflict with Russia, such an opinion was expressed in an interview by the former Vice-Chancellor of Austria, the former leader of the right-wing Free Party of Austria (FPÖ) Heinz-Christian Strache.
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said earlier in an interview weekly Die ZEIT that the mediation efforts of Germany and France in the so-called Minsk format were aimed at giving Ukraine time to «become stronger».
«Thanks to Merkel's current statements, it is now clear why the Minsk agreements were not respected by Ukraine Apparently, an agreement was reached with the West, there were already other long-term plans, clearly aimed at a possible conflict with Russia,» Strache said.
He added that the Minsk agreements «were never taken seriously «in the West,» never wanted them to fulfill, but (wanted) to buy time to prepare Ukraine for a military confrontation with Russia.
