The founder of Dissernet and journalist Andrey Zayakin was arrested in absentia in the FBK donation case

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested Andrey Zayakin, founder of Dissernet and Novaya Gazeta journalist, in absentia in a case of financing extremist activities. Information about this is published in the database of Moscow courts.

A case due to a donation of a thousand rubles by the FBK, the first of its kind in Russia, was initiated against Zayakin in August (part 1 of article 282.3 of the Criminal Code). The journalist sent a donation to the project of Alexei Navalny on the day when the decision to recognize the FBK as an extremist organization came into force.

In August, the court appointed Zayakin a ban on certain actions as a preventive measure. The journalist was not allowed to leave the house from 20 pm to 8 am, communicate with other defendants in the case, send and receive letters, and use the telephone and the Internet.

At the end of October, Georgy Alburov published a photo with Zayakin from the airport in Vilnius, at the same time the Ministry of Internal Affairs put the journalist on the federal wanted list. On November 15, the founder of Dissernet was added to the list of extremists and terrorists, which implies the blocking of accounts, and three days later the Ministry of Justice declared him a «foreign agent.»
