MOSCOW, 21 Dec. CNN readers criticized on Twitter the appearance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden.
The Ukrainian leader arrived at the meeting at the White House in a khaki-colored sweater, abandoning the official suit. Users regarded this as a sign of disrespect.
«Can't he even afford to buy a normal sweatshirt to meet the US President on American soil? This is blatant disrespect!» — the commentator was indignant.
«Thanks for the formal suit. Are we giving enough money that he cannot afford to buy clothes?» asked the second.
«He was given 113 million dollars, but he can't buy himself a suit?» asked another reader.
«The only world leader who doesn't even have a tie,» added another.
«Somebody put a jacket on this slacker,» demanded in the comments.
«Does he have at least one suit in his wardrobe?» the user asked.
“There is no need for camouflage in Washington,” another reader sneered.
Zelensky flew in on an American plane from Poland and stayed at Blair House, the guest house of American presidents across the street from the White House. After the summit and a press conference, the President of Ukraine is expected in Congress, where he is to deliver a 20-minute speech.
