
MOSCOW, Dec 22 By the Maritime Humanitarian Corridor as part of a grain deal 580 ships were able to take advantage of this, taking out more than 14.8 million tons of grain, mainly to developed countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Agency notes that on Thursday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, together with representatives of interested Russian departments and companies, held a regular round of consultations via videoconference with a UN delegation with the participation of Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebecca Greenspan and Deputy General UN Secretary of Humanitarian Affairs, Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths.
«The «Black Sea Initiative» confirmed the continuation of the implementation of the agreement in the agreed parameters and modalities during the 120-day extension period, until March 18, 2023. Currently, 580 ships have been able to use the maritime humanitarian corridor, having taken out more than 14, 8 million tons of grain, mainly forage (70% of cargo) mainly to developed countries (51% of deliveries),» the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
«Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring the full and faithful implementation of the Istanbul 'package' agreements in order to reduce threats to global food security,» added a statement posted on the ministry's website on Thursday.
