MOSCOW, Dec 31 European politicians have been lying for eight years about the importance Minsk agreements for the sake of arming Ukraine and preparing for a «big war,» said Andriy Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building.
Earlier, former French President Francois Hollande, following the ex-Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, said that the Minsk agreements gave Kyiv time to become stronger.
«For 8 years, European politicians have been lying about the importance of the Minsk agreements, extending sanctions against Russia for «lack of progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements» and all this only in order to arm and train neo-Nazis in Ukraine and prepare a big war. Everything you need to know about «European values»,» the senator wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Klishas, lies, hypocrisy, double standards, as well as neo-colonialism, the idea of one's own exclusivity and permissiveness, the rejection of any obligations and the denial of international law and the sovereignty of states, can be attributed to Western values of the 21st century.
The senator wondered if anyone perceives -To date, negotiations and agreements with Western politicians are serious.
«If earlier an example of the most cynical lies and hypocrisy was the test tube in the hands of the US Secretary of State at the UN Security Council with «proof of the presence of chemical weapons» in Iraq (by the way, we heard many times from Western «colleagues» that the world has changed a lot since then and they are now others), now such an example would be European «guarantees» (then to the President of Ukraine Viktor — ed.) Yanukovych in 2014 in Kyiv and «guarantees» under the Minsk agreements,» he added.
Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell was one of the main participants in the events leading up to the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 — on February 5, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Powell said that he had received information about Saddam Hussein's alleged biological weapons technology. To prove these words, Powell showed a vial of white powder, claiming that it contained a sample of weapons of mass destruction produced in Iraq. Later it turned out that Powell was misinformed by the CIA: the test tubes turned out to be fakes.
Earlier, Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, commenting on the words of former French President Hollande about the Minsk agreements, said that the integrity of Ukraine for the West is lands, not people, violence, not negotiations.
The authorities of Ukraine in April 2014 launched a military operation against the DPR and LPR, which declared independence after the coup in Kyiv in February 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements, skirmishes continued, in the DPR they announced shelling of residential areas by Ukrainian heavy artillery. Moscow has repeatedly stated that Kyiv does not comply with the Minsk agreements and drags out negotiations to resolve the conflict.
