
SEUL Jan 5 South Korean intelligence thinks North Korea has about 500 drones of 20 different types, mostly small drones, and is also developing medium and large long-range reconnaissance drones, Yonhap reports, citing a member of the South Korean parliament.
«The National Intelligence Agency has information that North Korea has 500 drones of about 20 types, mostly small drones 1-6 meters in size. There have been signs of the development of medium and large long-range reconnaissance drones, but intelligence believes that development is underway at the initial stage, the key is to obtain high-tech tracking sensors and other technologies, intelligence is monitoring what is happening,» Yoo Sang-bum, a member of the ruling Civil Force Party and secretary of the parliamentary intelligence committee, said after the committee meeting on Thursday.
It was previously reported that five North Korean drones invaded South Korea on December 26. The South Korean military failed to shoot them down, the drones returned to North Korea or disappeared from radar. According to the military, these were small-scale drones.
