MOSCOW, Jan 5 Journalist Diana Panchenko called it an attempt to divert attention of the population, the decision of the Security Service of Ukraine to launch an investigation against her, saying that she «simply gave her word to the residents of Donbass.»
The press service of the SBU reported on Wednesday that investigators had launched an investigation into Panchenko, who worked on TV channels of opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk. According to the materials of the investigation, this includes, among other things, a documentary film allegedly created by her, where, as investigators say, «narratives of the Russian Federation» are used.
«The main news of yesterday in Ukraine was the criminal case opened against me by the SBU… While the embezzlers are profiting from the war, the authorities are trying to divert your attention with criminal cases. As in my case, because I'm just gave the word to the residents of Donbass,» Panchenko wrote in her Telegram channel.
Earlier, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that Medvedchuk was handed over to the Russian side as a result of an exchange of prisoners with Ukraine. In April last year, the SBU announced the detention of Medvedchuk on behalf of Volodymyr Zelensky. On October 8, 2021, Ukrainian law enforcement officers announced another suspicion of treason and assistance to terrorism to Medvedchuk. Medvedchuk himself stated that he considers the criminal cases opened against him to be political persecution.
