MOSCOW, Jan 6 by the actions of «instigators paid for by the Russians,» Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said in an interview with journalist Olena Frolyak, writes Strana.ua.
"This (law on increased responsibility) was an initiative of the military, because there are problems in certain situations with discipline and some people abuse it. There were instigators, they were paid for by the Russians, and then these people avoided responsibility. That is, the principle of the inevitability of punishment did not work at this moment,» he said.
According to Reznikov, the Ukrainian military wants to deal with problems in discipline by tightening the responsibility of servicemen for crimes.
The Minister added that trusts the country's military command and supports its proposal.
Russia has been conducting a military special operation in Ukraine since February 24. Vladimir Putin called its task «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself.
