MINSK, January 9 Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko insists on the need creation of a joint media holding within the framework of the Union State of the Republic and the Russian Federation.
On Monday, the head of the Belarusian state is meeting in Minsk with State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev.
«Once we discussed the issue of creating a joint media holding. I understand that the press secretaries of Belarus and Russia for some reason abandoned this work, leaving it for consideration whether you alone (although such issues are not done alone)» , — quotes the Belarusian leader Sputnik Belarus.
Lukashenko recalled that the creation of a union media holding is a common decision of the presidents of Russia and Belarus. Moreover, the media holding should be good, solid, powerful, necessarily modern.
«Otherwise, we will spend money, but there will be no sense. I am not a supporter of fastening to something, transferring it to someone. We need an independent holding that corresponds to the spirit of the times,» the President of Belarus stressed.
Lukashenko named this year as the deadline for implementing the decision, preferably the first half of the year.
He stressed that the administrations of the Presidents of Belarus and Russia should work out this issue together with the Standing Committee of the Union State. “We know some of your proposals. They are absolutely normal in Belarus. The only thing, Dmitry Fedorovich, this complex, a media holding, should be independent, if we want to create something serious and complete the 28 programs that we have defined in our time. This movement must be continued,» the Belarusian leader said.
