WASHINGTON, Jan 9 British Prince Harry said that if members of the royal family do not play by the general rules, then they may face «destruction». He expressed this opinion in an interview with ABC News.
«It's hard to be inside the (royal) family because you are made to believe that if you don't play by the rules, you will be destroyed,» he said. Harry stressed that he had made a decision «not to play by the rules», and now he is «trying to be destroyed.»
The prince said he also looks forward to a frank and private discussion with members of the royal family, which will not subsequently be published in the British press. «I can forgive a lot, but there needs to be discussions for reconciliation, and accountability must be part of that,» Harry concluded.
In early January, Harry, in an interview with the British television channel ITV, said that he wanted to «return his father», «return his brother.» He noted that the royal family absolutely does not want to «reconcile» with him and his wife, while he himself wants «a family, not an institution.»
The Daily Mail reported that Prince Harry and Markle want to restore relations with the royal family after the release of the Netflix documentary series. Harry and Meghan have allegedly talked about «contacting» members of the royal family after the «inevitable furore» associated with the series and Harry's upcoming memoir subsided, sources said. The Mirror also noted that the British King Charles III and Prince William, in light of the release of the series, allegedly will hold “crisis talks” to discuss the response to possible accusations of racism or abuse against Harry and Meghan.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the UK after a conflict with the royal family almost three years ago, refusing to perform royal duties. In March 2021, the couple gave a scandalous interview to Oprah Winfrey, in which they accused relatives of indifference, constant pressure, and even racism. Since then, relations between the couple and the royal court have remained tense.
