The Ufa garrison military court sentenced Corporal Marcel Kandarov to five years in a penal colony for refusing to participate in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the court.
According to the release of the court, a 24-year-old contract soldier from the Chishminsky district, «not wanting to take part in a special military operation, in May 2022 did not appear at the place of service.» He was detained in September.
Kandarov was found guilty of leaving the unit for more than a month during mobilization (Part 5 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code). The punishment under this criminal article was toughened in September after the announcement of “partial mobilization.”
At the end of December 2022, in Ufa, 27-year-old contract soldier Salavat Mirasov was sentenced to three years in prison under the same article. According to investigators, in July he did not return from vacation to his unit in Chebarkul, but arrived there in October after the start of mobilization.
