MOSCOW, 14 Jan. Those who draw up a set of rules for the functioning of the «international order» pose a threat to the security of the whole world, China's envoy Zhang Jun said at a UN Security Council meeting.
«On what rules is the so-called «a rule-governed international order»? Who makes these rules? We have not heard a clear answer to this question. What we have seen is how the rules-based approach, which many adhere to, has plunged the world into huge problems,» the Chinese envoy said.
Jun also added that perhaps the true intentions of several countries promoting the idea of an international order — imposing their own standards. He recalled that there is only one system focused on maintaining world order and regulating international relations — the UN system.
During his speech, Jun noted that «international order based on rules» is a phrase that is very often sounds from the lips of Western politicians, but such a wording is not found either in the UN charter or in Security Council resolutions.
