UN, Jan 14 Upcoming «peace summit», o which the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey said, may turn out to be a meeting of the General Assembly on the anniversary of the start of a special military operation, follows from the words of the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova.
Answering a question from journalists about whether the UN Secretary General is expected to participate in the «peace summit», Dzhepparova said: «We are discussing the modalities of the summit at the moment. It is still a matter of coordination with partners.»
“We are now thinking and proposing to our president the modality of the event dedicated to the “peace formula” (“peace plan” of Volodymyr Zelensky from ten points — ed.). We are talking about a summit dedicated to the “peace formula”. This will either be a debate in the General Assembly within the framework of agenda item on the occupied territories, or the emergency special session debate. So that's what we're discussing,» she added.
Every year after the reunification of Crimea with Russia on February 23, a regular meeting of the General Assembly is held on the agenda item «the situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine.»
The second format mentioned by Dzhaparova is an emergency special session of the General Assembly. Such events are convened within 24 hours of receipt by the UN Secretary General of a request to convene such a session, received from the Security Council and supported by the votes of any nine members of the Security Council.
Also, such a session may be convened after receiving a corresponding request from a majority of UN members, expressed by voting in the Intersessional Committee, or a message from a majority of members of the organization to join the request to convene.
After the beginning of the NWO, it was decided to convene the 11th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly.
According to a UN source, «the idea of a peace summit is being promoted by Ukraine among many others, but there are still many questions regarding the form of holding — and the final confirmation of the holding.» In addition, according to him, a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine is expected on February 24 on the anniversary of the start of the NWO.
