A resident of Petrozavodsk, Ruben Pogosyan, has been aggravated in a criminal case. Initially, he was charged with spreading “fakes” about the armed forces (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), and now he is charged with the same acts committed out of political hatred (Clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The lawyer of the defendant Roman Masalev informed about this to Mediazona.
The case against Poghosyan was opened in August, the publications on VKontakte became the reason for the criminal prosecution. A search was conducted in the house of a resident of Petrozavodsk, on August 30, the Petrozavodsk City Court of Karelia ordered him to ban certain actions as a preventive measure. Poghosyan was forbidden to use the Internet and other means of communication, attend public events, leave Petrozavodsk and communicate with other participants in the criminal case.

Ruben Pogosyan is a former prisoner of correctional colony No. 9 in Petrozavodsk. In 2019, he told Mediazona about being tortured in a correctional facility. After that, the head of the colony, Ivan Savelyev, accused Pogosyan and Alla Konstantinova, a journalist from Mediazona, of slander, but the Investigative Committee twice refused to open a case. Later, Savelyev himself became a defendant in the case of beating a prisoner.
