Plane crashes in Nepal with over 70 people on board

NEW DELHI, Jan 15 Plane crashed in the city Pokhara in Nepal, according to The Kathmandu Post.
It happened between the old and the new Pokhara airport. The turboprop passenger ATR 72, owned by Yeti Airlines, flew to Pokhara from Kathmandu. According to a company spokesman, there were 68 passengers and four crew members on board.
Army spokesman Krishna Bhandari later said that at least 16 people had died.

«We expect to find more bodies. The plane has broken into pieces.» , he told Reuters.

The airport is closed, rescue work is underway. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal called an emergency cabinet meeting. He instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs, security personnel and all government agencies to carry out effective rescue operations.
