
MOSCOW, Jan 15 UK to donate 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine in the coming weeks, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's office said in a statement.
«A squadron of 14 tanks will leave for the country (Ukraine. — Ed.) in the coming weeks,» the ministry said.
According to the statement, the United Kingdom will begin training Ukrainian troops in the coming days on how to use the tanks transferred to Kyiv. After sending these combat vehicles, London will provide Kyiv with about 30 AS90 self-propelled howitzers.
«Prime Minister urges Allies to send planned 2023 support as soon as possible to achieve maximum effect,» the press release states.
In addition, The statement said that Sunak instructed British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace to «bring together European allies» to discuss military assistance to Ukraine. British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley will also visit the US and Canada.
