MOSCOW, Jan 15 About 60 women abducted near a village Arbinda in northern Burkina Faso, some managed to escape, AFP reported, citing local officials and residents.
As noted, jihadists are suspected of kidnappings that took place on Thursday and Friday.
«According to several residents and local officials who wished to remain anonymous, one group of about 40 women was abducted ten kilometers southeast of Arbinda, and another group of 20 women was abducted the next day north of this locality. Some managed to escape and return to their village,» the agency reported on Sunday.
Burkina Faso, located in the Sahel region, is trying to contain the offensive of radical jihadists, which has been ongoing since 2015.
