MOSCOW, Jan 17 Russia has sovereignty, unlike EU countries that handed it over to Washington, said Federation Council Senator Andrey Klimov.
European Commission Director General for Transport Henrik Hololei said that Russia should stop charging foreign airlines for the use of airspace over Siberia as the restrictions on flights imposed as a result of the conflict in Ukraine are lifted.
«We, unlike your EU flock, have real sovereignty. And you long ago handed it over to Washington for use. Let it compensate for the multibillion-dollar daily losses of the EU from their own anti-Russian plans. True, Uncle Sam is unlikely to help. Unless he accepts in Washington someone from Europe united for the slaughter of America, pat on the shoulder, or even lower, take a picture on the lawn,» he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Klimov, Brussels, Paris and Berlin themselves exchanged a mutually beneficial partnership with Moscow. “Having lost Russia as a reliable partner for preferential Trans-Siberian flights, it is illogical to cry. As, however, for everything else, too,” he added.
The Russian senator added that negotiations should be conducted with those «who have brains, will and elementary independence.» «Integrity is also highly desirable, especially in a long-term partnership. I personally do not find any of the above in the EU leadership,» Klimov concluded.
