31-year-old Timerkhanov from the Saratov region was detained in the village of Belaya Berezka, Bryansk area near the border with Ukraine. As the press service of the court writes, a local resident told the police about him because of a “bulky backpack”.

According to investigators, Timerkhanov was going to “leave [to] Ukraine to take part in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code).

The lawyer of Timerkhanov who wrote a confession in court called him «a victim of information propaganda of the special services of Ukraine.» The man himself said in the last word that “he let himself be deceived [by the Ukrainian special services].”

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Bryansk Regional Court has received six cases under this article. The Timerkhanov case was the last to continue to be considered. Other defendants were sentenced to five to seven years in a strict regime colony.

Yesterday, a 22-year-old supermarket clerk from the Saratov region, who was also detained in the border village of Belaya Berezka, was sentenced.
