MOSCOW, Jan 18 Power supply situation in Kyiv region, and also in several eastern regions of Ukraine remains difficult, the resumption of energy supply is complicated due to the destruction of substations and damaged power grids, Andriy Gerus, head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on energy and housing and communal services, said on Wednesday.
National energy company «Ukrenergo» earlier on Wednesday reported that the existing generation of electricity in Ukraine does not cover a quarter of consumption, emergency power outages are introduced in a number of areas.
«The situation today is really difficult (in the energy system of Ukraine — ed.). Many power units have been put out of operation, in some regions the situation is complicated by the fact that, in addition to generation, there is also a problem with networks and substations that were damaged as a result of shelling. First of all, this concerns the Kyiv region and eastern Ukraine — Kharkiv, Donetsk, Poltava regions,» Gerus said on the air of the United News national marathon.
Last Saturday, the Ukrainian energy holding DTEK announced the defeat of two thermal power plants, one of which was stopped. The Ministry of Energy of the country confirmed the defeat of infrastructure facilities in a number of regions of the country, including in Kharkiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnitsa and Kyiv regions.
Strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure of the RF Armed Forces began on October 10 — two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, behind which, according to the Russian authorities, the Ukrainian special services stand.
