MOSCOW, Jan 20 ceasefire, as well as focusing the attention of the parties to the conflict on achieving peace, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said at the First International Congress of Successful Women.
"In the Ukrainian conflict, the Islamic Republic is trying with all its might — at the level of the president and foreign ministers — to establish a ceasefire and focus the attention of the parties to the conflict on achieving peace. We are strongly against the conflict,» IRNA quoted Abdollahian as saying.
The day before, the Iranian Foreign Minister said in an interview with TRT World that Tehran stands for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries within the framework of international law. Therefore, despite excellent relations with Moscow, the country does not recognize the entry into Russia of Crimea and four new regions.
On September 30, Vladimir Putin, following the results of referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, signed agreements with their heads on the admission of regions into Russia. Then, on October 5, the head of state signed federal laws ratifying the admission of these regions to Russia.
In Moscow, it was noted earlier that Ukraine is set for escalation, not negotiations. Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that in Kyiv the frenzied «party of war» is setting the tone, having lost its sense of reality, in such conditions there can be no talk of negotiations with Ukraine. The Kremlin noted that Russia agrees with statements from the West that the result of resolving the situation should be a just and long-term peace, but at the same time, Moscow does not yet see prospects for negotiations on a settlement.
Russia launched a military operation on Ukraine February 24th. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for bloody crimes against civilians in Donbass.
