MOSCOW, 22 Jan. The German publication Bild published an article dedicated to Russian jokes about German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after he refused to supply tanks to Ukraine.
«FSB Colonel Olaf Scholz, who single-handedly stopped the supply of dozens of German tanks to Ukraine, was awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously,» — the publication cites the content of one of the memes that have spread in Telegram channels.
According to the author of the publication, the decision of the German leader caused a negative reaction among allies who actively support the Kyiv regime. At the same time, such an outcome will play into the hands of Russia, which contributed to the emergence of so many jokes approving Scholz's decision.
As another example, the journalist cited the statement that Germany exploited the weakness of the United States and fooled Poland, Finland and the Baltic countries, so «we can talk about the victory of the German chancellor.»
This week, a meeting of the NATO contact group on support to Ukraine was held at the American Ramstein airbase, where the issue of increasing military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was discussed. Nevertheless, its participants failed to reach a consensus on the supply of German tanks. Berlin has so far refrained from doing so, despite the fact that pressure on Scholz has increased significantly.
According to the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the German leader, in a conversation with Joe Biden, made it clear that Germany would supply Ukrainian troops with Leopard 2 tanks only if the American side will hand over their Abrams. Later, these allegations were denied in Berlin.
After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the US and NATO allies continue to pump tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons into the Kyiv regime. Moscow, for its part, said that the supply of Western weapons only prolongs the conflict, and the transport of weapons becomes a legitimate target for the Russian army.
