MOSCOW, Jan 24 The Security Service of Ukraine accused the Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko in support of the Russian special military operation due to reports from Mariupol and Donetsk, the ministry said on Tuesday.
«The security service has collected an exhaustive evidence base on the pro-Kremlin propagandist Diana Panchenko, who publicly justifies the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine,» the agency's Telegram channel says.
According to the agency, Panchenko previously worked on TV channels owned by ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Viktor Medvedchuk, where she distributed «Moscow's anti-Ukrainian narratives.»
It is reported that in August 2022, Panchenko arrived in the DPR, where she continued her journalistic activities, covering events in Mariupol and Donetsk. The journalist is charged with «justifying the armed aggression against Ukraine.»
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on 24 February. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out «demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine», to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for «bloody crimes against civilians» in Donbass.
