BERLIN, Jan 24 regasification with the help of liquefied gas, comparable in volume to the stopped gas supplies from the Russian Federation, according to the response of the country's Ministry of Economy to a request from the Left party faction in the Bundestag.
In the answer of the ministry, which is at its disposal, the department cites a table where the level of regasification is indicated by years as projects for the construction of liquefied gas terminals are implemented.
So, in 2023, the incoming volume of liquefied gas is estimated at 13.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. In 2024 and 2025, the ministry expects to receive 37 and 49.5 billion cubic meters. And only in 2026 does the agency indicate a number comparable to the volumes of stopped gas supplies from the Russian Federation — 56 billion cubic meters.
«This is only a planning stage, which is subject to various implementation risks, some of which are difficult to calculate,» the ministry emphasizes in its response.
Earlier, the German media, citing the country's Ministry of Economy, reported that the FRG, with the launch of the third LNG complex in Germany's Brunsbüttel, would cover a quarter of the interrupted supplies from the Russian Federation.
In total, with the previously launched terminals in the ports of Wilhelmshaven and Lubmin, the regasification capacity will thus reach the figure of about 14 billion cubic meters of gas per year by the end of the year, of which 7.5 billion will fall on Brunsbüttel.
German authorities have previously said that Berlin plans to build a total of five state-owned floating LNG terminals. As Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted, they will allow Germany to become independent of gas supplies from Russia.
The West increased sanctions pressure on Russia over Ukraine, which led to an increase in prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containment and weakening of Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that Russia will solve all the problems that the West creates for it.
