HELSINKI, Jan 26 Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur's car collided with an elk, Pevkur was not injured, but the animal died.
«As a result of a collision between a car and an elk, both were injured. Unfortunately, the elk died, the car, apparently, will have to be written off, but, fortunately, everyone in the car is healthy,» Pevkur wrote on social networks on Thursday.
According to the minister, he was returning from the exercises of the paramilitary militia «Kaitseliit» («Union of Defense»).
On Thursday, the Estonian government announced extraordinary military exercises, in which units of the paramilitary militia «Kaitseliit» will take part.
830 personnel of the units of the Pärnu, Saaremaa and Lääne squads of the «Kaitseliit» of the Western Territorial Defense District were summoned to participate in the exercises. The exercises will be held from 26 to 29 January.
