MOSCOW, Jan 28 French President Emmanuel Macron said that will continue to «talk to Russia».
«I will continue to speak with Russia,» Macron said during a reception at the Elysee Palace on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
He noted that all countries are responsible for the world order and must contribute to its maintenance.
Earlier, Macron, in an interview with Pais, said that France, despite continued support for Ukraine, is in favor of maintaining a dialogue with Russia, which the West should conduct, avoiding even verbal escalation. He also lamented that «in recent weeks» negotiations have not taken place.
In early January, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Putin and Macron maintain contacts, «there is now a pause in the dialogue, but at the previous stage, the contact was very useful and very constructive, despite all the available ones, including deep, divisions».
