CAiro, Jan 28 Saudi Arabia warned Israelis and Palestinians against «sliding into a dangerous escalation,» the Kingdom's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
«The Saudi Foreign Ministry warns against the situation between Palestinians and Israelis escalating to a more dangerous escalation,» the ministry said on Twitter.
The Kingdom's Foreign Ministry also declared its condemnation of any attacks on civilians, emphasizing «the need to stop the escalation, revive the peace process and end the occupation» (by Israel of the Palestinian territories).
Earlier on Saturday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry made a similar appeal to the Palestinians and Israelis about the need to stop the escalation.
On Friday evening, the Israeli police reported a terrorist attack on a synagogue in East Jerusalem. According to Israeli police, as a result of shooting in the Neve Yaakov area, seven people were killed and three more were injured.
According to the Israeli media, the perpetrator came by car to the synagogue in the northern Jewish settlement of Neve Yaakov in East Jerusalem and opened fire. The attack came a day after a massive raid by the Israeli army in the city of Jenin on the East Bank of the Jordan River, during which 10 Palestinians were killed. Hamas called the terrorist attack in Jerusalem a «reaction» to the Israeli raid in Jenin.
