MOSCOW, Jan 29 Protests that could erupt in the US after the murder of an African American by police officers in Memphis, can negatively affect the rating of President Joe Biden, said Vladimir Bruter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies.
Earlier, the Memphis police released videos of a local resident being beaten by their officers, who later died. The police first stopped the car, dragged 29-year-old Tyre Nichols out of it and threw it on the pavement. At first, he did not resist, but then he was able to escape, despite the stun gun used by the patrolmen.
The news of the death of Nichols after a harsh detention has already caused sporadic protests. In particular, a procession took place in New York on Friday. People carried banners «Stop the police terror.»
«I think that they (the protests) will definitely affect (the ratings). The question is that for Biden, more is already left behind than ahead. The sooner his party comrades accept this as a fact «the easier it will be for them to prepare for the next election. If they stick with Biden, then I'm afraid that they are just starting to have problems,» Bruter said.
According to the expert, Biden now «in a certain sense has no trump cards.»
«Nothing can help him,» the expert summed up.
