
MOSCOW, Jan 29 Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen is outraged footage of Palestinians celebrating the death of seven Israelis in a terrorist attack on a synagogue in East Jerusalem, and said that the Palestinian authorities «encourage terrorism.»
«It's just awful! Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are celebrating the deaths of seven Jewish believers killed by a Palestinian terrorist in Jerusalem. This terrorist attack is a direct result of the incitement of the Palestinian Authority, which encourages terrorism and pays those who kill Jews,» Cohen tweeted.
Israeli Foreign Minister added that after the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust, these scenes are «evidence that anti-Semitism is alive and well.» He noted that the international community should react and condemn «such manifestations of racism.»
Earlier, the Jerusalem Post reported that on Saturday two people were injured in a shooting in the City of David, the oldest inhabited area of Jerusalem. Israeli police called the shooting in Jerusalem on Saturday a «suspicion of a terrorist attack.»
On Friday evening, the Israeli police reported a terrorist attack on a synagogue in East Jerusalem. According to Israeli police, as a result of shooting in the Neve Yaakov area, seven people were killed and three more were injured.
According to the Israeli media, the perpetrator came by car to the synagogue in the northern Jewish settlement of Neve Yaakov in East Jerusalem and opened fire. The attack came a day after a massive raid by the Israeli army in the city of Jenin on the East Bank of the Jordan River, during which 10 Palestinians were killed. Hamas called the terrorist attack in Jerusalem a «reaction» to the Israeli raid in Jenin.
