MOSCOW, Jan 30 The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Japan to remember better the lessons of the past in connection with the policy of militarism, the corresponding message was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the military-strategic plans of the alliance between Japan and the United States, directed against Russia and China, could increase tension in the Asia-Pacific region (APR).
«In this regard, we point out to the Japanese side the need to fully remember the lessons of the past. Tokyo is well aware of what the policy of militarism leads to,» the report says.
Earlier, the Japanese government approved three documents — the «National Security Strategy», which defines the main directions of foreign policy in the field of defense; «National Defense Strategy», which refers to the goals and means of defense; «Defensive Plan» — it determines the overall cost of defense and the scope of armaments. In particular, they provide for an increase in Japan's defense spending to 43 trillion yen (more than 300 billion dollars) over five years, and the defense budget by 2027 — up to 2% of GDP.
