MOSCOW, Jan 31 The city of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan has risen to 100 people, according to the Geo TV channel, citing officials.
Earlier it was reported about 93 dead.
«The death toll in the explosion … has risen to 100 people, 221 a person was injured,» the channel said, citing officials.
The explosion in the mosque occurred on Monday at about 13.40 local time (11.40 Moscow time) during prayer. According to eyewitnesses, there were more than 100 people in the mosque, most of those gathered were representatives of the police, army and sappers. The explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber. As a result of the explosion, part of the mosque and the roof of the building collapsed.
It was reported that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan* terrorist group claimed responsibility for the explosion. Later, according to Dawn, the group denied involvement in the explosion, saying that their rules prohibit attacks on mosques and public places. However, according to the sources of the newspaper, some local units of a terrorist organization could be behind the explosion.
