MOSCOW, Jan 30 Iran may change its position on the conflict in Ukraine due to a statement by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, about Kyiv's possible involvement in a drone attack on a military facility in Iranian Isfahan, Nour News reports, citing an unnamed Iranian official.
Earlier, Podolyak on his Twitter made it clear that the drone attack on the facility of the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan and the explosion at the plant in Azarshahr may be related to the events in Ukraine and the alleged Russian assistance from Iran, writing that «Ukraine warned you.»
«If the hostile statements of… Podolyak against Iran are not changed by the authorities of this country, this may lead to different reactions from Iran… Ukraine's emphasis on the threat to Iran's national security may become the basis for studying the change in the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the war in Ukraine and the adoption of a new approach, consistent with the behavior of the Kyiv government,» the official said, referring to the constant calls from Tehran earlier about the need to end the Ukrainian conflict and the importance of dialogue.
In addition, the Iranian official added that despite the fact that Kyiv has repeatedly accused Tehran of supplying weapons to Russia during the conflict in Ukraine, they still have not provided any evidence.
On the night of January 29, a strong explosion rocked the city of Isfahan in the central part of Iran. Later, the country's Ministry of Defense announced an unsuccessful attempt to attack one of its military installations with weapons using quadrocopters with explosives. One of the drones was shot down, the other two fell into defensive traps and exploded. On the same night, an explosion occurred in the northwest of the country, followed by a fire at a motor oil factory.
