As the company's press service told Polygon.media, the problems with accessing the site are not related to restrictions on Russians, they are the result of a technical failure. “This story [blocking users from Russia] is not true. A technical problem has arisen that has affected some regions and has now been resolved,” the press service said. As of 16:00 Moscow time, the site is reopening from Russian IP addresses.

In February, due to the war in Ukraine, OnlyFans restricted access to the accounts of Russian and Belarusian models. This created significant difficulties in withdrawing money from the platform. “While the [content] authors are not responsible for the recent attacks on Ukraine, due to global financial restrictions, we have very limited payout options from the accounts of the authors associated with Russia and Belarus. As a result, payments were limited,” the company noted.

In April, the company also suspended Russian accounts. “Over the past few months, we have considered several options to continue providing our services to authors affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, due to further tightening of restrictions on payments to and from Russia, OnlyFans is no longer able to properly serve our Russian community of creators,” OnlyFans added.

In March, the company listed 500 ETH (approximately $1.3 million) to UkraineDAO, which raises funds to support Ukraine during the war with Russia.

Updated at 16:00. Added information from the OnlyFans press service about that the site was unavailable to Russians due to a technical failure, and not restrictions on the part of the company.
