A panel of judges of the Kamchatka Regional Court overturned the sentence of employees of the Kronotsky Reserve in Kamchatka, who received real terms in the case of embezzlement of 455 million rubles. This was announced by the deputy director of the reserve Petr Shpilenok, the details of the decision are given by the support group.
The prosecutor's office asked to replace the real terms of environmentalists with suspended ones, but the court overturned the verdict and sent the case back for a new trial.
“In my opinion, today the panel of judges made a completely justified decision. I am convinced (and this was evident from the process) that the collegium understood the case and studied all the materials. A very important step has been taken on the path to justice,” said lawyer Irina Dyachenko.

According to investigators, the reserve employees embezzled 455 million rubles allocated for cleaning the reserve, and simply buried industrial waste on a special protected area. At the same time, an independent examination found no traces of burial.
On July 14, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court appointed terms of up to 5.5 years in a colony to Oksana Terekhova, Roman Korchigin, Daria Panicheva and former employee Nikolai Pozdnyakov of the reserve under the article on embezzlement (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code).
