DONETSK, February 8 Donetsk Mayor Alexei Kulemzin said that thanks to the work of air defense, 4 missiles were shot down, fired on the city on Tuesday evening by Ukrainian troops from the HIMARS MLRS.
Representation of the Donetsk People's Republic in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) previously reported that Ukrainian troops fired 4 missiles from the HIMARS MLRS on Budyonovsky and Kalininsky districts of Donetsk on Tuesday evening.
«According to updated information, yesterday at 23.30 4 missiles fired by the Ukronazis from the HIMARS MLRS were shot down thanks to the work of our air defense,» Kulemzin wrote in his telegram channel.
The HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) multiple launch rocket system was developed in the USA by BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin in 1996-2000 and has been produced since 2003. Created on the basis of the US Army FMTV three-axle wheeled chassis, it can carry six rockets or one ATACMS operational-tactical ballistic missile, the effective firing range for certain types of ammunition is up to 80 kilometers.
