The Perm Garrison Military Court has appointed contract soldier Alexei Opalev two years in a general regime colony, who, after being wounded and treated, did not return to the military unit. This was reported by the press service of the court.
The military signed a contract in June 2022, was soon injured and was in a military hospital in August-September. After being discharged, Opalev, “wishing to take a break from military service,” went to Krasnodar, and then to the Kirov region.
In October, a contract soldier arrived at the military commissariat of the Kirov region and said that «he had no valid reasons for his absence from military service, there was no confluence of difficult life circumstances» (part 3.1 of article 337 of the Criminal Code).

Three days from contract to death. The story of two volunteers who went to fight to return the family
Where exactly the soldier was wounded, the court report does not say. In the spring and summer of 2022, before the announcement of mobilization, the Ministry of Defense actively offered the Russians to conclude a short-term contract with the army and go to Ukraine. «Mediazona» told the stories of volunteers who were sent to the front without training.
In which unit Opalev served, it is also unknown. The verdict in his case has not yet been published on the website of the court.
In total, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Perm Garrison Military Court has received 25 cases under the article on the abandonment of the unit, and 20 of them have been sentenced. In January, a two-year colony there was assigned to another contract soldier, who, a few days before the announcement of mobilization, left the unit for home in Solikamsk. Most of the rest of the convicts were given suspended sentences and fines.
