«An avalanche came down on the southern section of the Transcaucasian highway, in the village of Bagiata, Dzau district. Road services have begun clearing the route,» the report says.
Transkam is the only road connecting South Ossetia with the outside world. In winter and early spring, traffic on this mountain route is periodically blocked due to snow drifts and the risk of avalanches.
