In court explained that the case was considered in the context of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
The document states that Prigozhin is «responsible for actions that damage the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.» However, when restrictive measures were taken against his mother, «exclusively family ties» were taken into account, and this, according to the court, is not enough to be included in the sanctions list, where she was included in February last year.
It is also noted that the EU Council could not prove in court that Violetta Prigozhina owns Concord Management and Consalting.
After the start of the Russian special operation, the West increased sanctions pressure on Moscow. The number of restrictions reaches tens of thousands, although the United States and Europe admit that the negative impact was not so significant.
Since the end of February last year, the EU has approved ten packages of sanctions against Moscow. After the introduction of the last of them, 1,473 individuals and 205 organizations fell under the restrictions.
As Vladimir Putin noted, the sanctions dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy, and the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. Nevertheless, according to the head of state, it was not possible to undermine the financial stability of Russia, and Europe itself has reached a sanctions impasse.
