SIMFEROPOL, March 9 Ukraine did not provide a professional opinion on the reasons for the short short circuit, which led to a blackout of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, problems could be created artificially, said Renat Karchaa, adviser to the head of the Rosenergoatom concern.
Earlier, the ZNPP press service reported that at night, as a result of a short circuit on the line between the South-Ukrainian NPP and the Dnieper substation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, diesel generators were launched by automatic actions to meet the plant's own needs.
«In the evening, a blow is struck on the TPP square, on the open switchgear system (open switchgear) in order to deprive us of the theoretical possibility of powering the station through an alternative line. In the morning, the station is de-energized. A short circuit occurs at a considerable distance of the line that feeds us … No professional conclusions for the reasons for this short circuit, the Ukrainian side did not do it. That is, it was a problem with power lines, technological equipment. An emergency situation — there were no comments on this. But immediately there was an information flow that linked the actions of the RF Armed Forces with the de-energization of the station. We are used to that these people are engaged in nuclear blackmail. The reasons for what happened have yet to be clarified, nothing can be ruled out, including the artificial creation of problems for the ZNPP,» Karchaa said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
At the moment, Units 1 and 3 of Zaporozhye NPP are under repair, units 2, 4, 5, 6 have been transferred to cold reserve, the press service noted. The equipment is serviced in accordance with all necessary regulations with strict control of radiation safety standards.
The radiation background at the station and the adjacent territory is unchanged and is at a level corresponding to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed natural background natural values, the station reported.
