Earlier, US Senator Josh Hawley wrote a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, urging him to acknowledge responsibility for the coronavirus pandemic. In the message, Hawley informed the Chinese leader about the adoption by Congress of his bill, which obliges the US administration to declassify all available data on the genesis of COVID-19. Hawley claims that the Chinese embassy in the United States wrote to him calling for the bill to be withdrawn, in which the senator proposes as the main version of the coronavirus leak from a laboratory in the city of Wuhan and accuses Beijing of refusing to cooperate with an international investigation.
«The new anti-China bill in the United States is another stone in the insurmountable wall of disagreements between the United States and China. This wall will continue to grow in the future,» he wrote in the telegram channel.
