Fuel quality in regions are different. Under such conditions, engine oils with a set of additives work well, which not only clean the engine, but also prevent the formation of new deposits. Cleanliness is the key to durability
During operation, deposits accumulate in the engine, and this happens even if the oil and filters have been changed in it in a timely manner. A significant part of the Russian car fleet are cars with high mileage, which are currently in operation, were produced at a time when rather stringent environmental standards had already come into effect. Therefore, their engines are equipped with complex fuel injection systems, and are often turbocharged, which means that their parts work with high loads. For stable operation and durability, such engines need good protection.
Additional problems can be created by deviations in the composition of the fuel. Increased control and integration of independent gas stations into large networks has generally reduced sales of low-quality fuel, but it still occurs. Usually, deviations from the requirements of the standards in its composition are not so significant as to immediately lead to engine failure, but its systematic or even periodic use worsens its operation and increases sludge deposits in the engine. Therefore, in such cases, it is desirable to use oils with improved detergent properties.
How will the oil help?
Often, owners of cars with high mileage believe that it is time to save money and switch to mineral or semi-synthetic oils. But cheaper oil provides less effective protection and requires more frequent changes. This is especially true for engines with high performance and complex design, which are not uncommon on models from Mercedes-Benz, the Volkswagen group and other brands.
Modern synthetic oils with additives that reduce friction, wear and deposits in the engine give better results in terms of engine reliability and life, which ultimately reduces the cost of the owner. And the ability to increase the drain interval also contributes to savings.
These oils are designated FS. The abbreviation means Full SAPS (Sulfated Ash, Pphosphorus and Sulfur — sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur), which translates as «full ash.» They meet the requirements of ACEA A3/B3 and A3/B4, which means that relatively high levels of phosphorus and sulfur based additives are allowed.
Both Mercedes-Benz and LADA
There are quite a lot of cars of German manufacturers in the secondary market — Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz. Known for their quality and technical excellence, companies create their own requirements for oils.
All three products are approved by Mercedes-Benz 229.3 and 229.5, Volkswagen 502 00 and 505 00. They are focused on a wide range of operating conditions, facilitate starting in cold weather and lubricates the engine well at operating temperatures.
