MOSCOW , 2 Mar. Yana Lantratova, First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Education, turned to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov with a request to check the «false denunciation» of singer SHAMAN (Yaroslav Dronov). A copy of the appeal was made available.
As Lantratova pointed out with reference to media reports, the singer was the victim of a «false denunciation» from a resident of Tula, who accused him of extremism and inciting ethnic hatred in the song «I'm Russian.»
According to the deputy, law enforcement officers should listen to the artist's compositions in order to understand that there is no interethnic hatred «in his work.» to parse a provocative statement instead of fighting crime,” Lantratova concluded.
Earlier, the SHAMAN performer responded to suspicions of extremism. The musician said that his hit «I'm Russian» passed all the necessary checks before being published on the Web and on TV.
