PARIS, Mar 11 Thousands of farmers protested Saturday in The Hague, there are detainees, according to the NL Times portal.
Thousands of farmers gathered in the Zuiderpark in The Hague on Saturday at the call of the Farmers Defense Force (FDF). Tractors and trucks also drove into the park.
It is reported that one driver was detained for the violation, and the vehicle was confiscated. The man resisted arrest, as a result of which two police officers were slightly injured.
The area where the demonstration is taking place is cordoned off by the police.
Farmers Defense Force (FDF) earlier reported that it expects 100,000 demonstrators to take part in the action. According to the municipality, 25,000 people may come out to demonstrate.
The farmers' organization noted that the protesters are not only against the government's nitrogen policy, but are also dissatisfied with a number of other social problems, such as the welfare case and the gas crisis in Groningen.
In the summer, farmers in the Netherlands blocked major highways for several days in a row and scattered manure and hay on the roads in protest against the government's environmental policy. Farmers' protests began after the Dutch government announced the introduction of more stringent measures to limit nitrogen emissions into the environment. Farmers said that such a policy will lead to the ruin of many rural households, since it is livestock and fertilizers that are the main sources of nitrogen emissions.
